Today in Madrid, at the HQ of CSIC, the second meeting of the NewAthena Science Working Group Chairs has just started.

This meeting is organized by the NewAthena Science Study Team (NASST) and the Athena Community Office (ACO). Also present the Project Scientists of the Instrument Consortia and the International Partners. The scope of the meeting is to discuss the NewAthena science case, which will constitute the backbone of the Study Definition Report (already known as “The Red Book”). This document is a mandatory deliverable that the NASST must submit to the Advisory Structure in the framework of the Mission Adoption process. The Red Book shall be delivered by the last quarter of 2026.
