Carrera, Francisco J.

Bio_Francisco

Francisco J. Carrera is full Professor at the Universidad de Cantabria and member of the Instituto de Física de Cantabria (IFCA, CSIC-Universidad de Cantabria). He has previously been a postdoc at Mullard Space Science Laboratory/University College London (UK) and at IFCA.

His research interests include the properties of active galactic nuclei (especially the most obscured ones) and their host galaxies, investigated through multi-wavelength wide-area and deep surveys of X-ray sources.

He has been involved with XEUS/IXO/Athena/NewAthena for quite a while now (as you can guess from the list of, now mostly meaningless, acronyms). In NewAthena, he is currently the Director of the Athena Community Office, co-chair of the Science Working Group 2 (Galaxies and supermassive black holes), and member of the Background Working Group.
