ArneRau

Arne Rau is an experimental astrophysicist at the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics (Germany), specializing in the observational properties of transient and variable sources. His research spans both Galactic and extragalactic phenomena, with a current focus on X-ray–selected Tidal Disruption Events studied using data from eROSITA and Einstein Probe, complemented by optical/NIR observations with the seven-channel imager GROND on the MPG 2.2m telescope at La Silla (Chile). He is looking forward to exploring the transient sky with NewAthena.

As Project Scientist for the NewAthena Wide Field Imager (WFI), A. Rau coordinates the scientific activities of the WFI consortium and serves as the liaison between the instrument team and the broader scientific community. He is also a member of the NewAthena Coordination Group and the Athena Community Office.
