A new selection of publications showcases the breadth of scientific and technological work supporting NewAthena. From exploring the spin and growth history of supermassive black holes to advancing the mission’s key instrumentation and optics, these studies illustrate the progress being made across the mission.

The papers present updated prospects for black hole spin studies with future NewAthena observations, the optimisation of the WFI’s DEPFET detectors, the characterisation of the vibrational behaviour of X-IFU TES microcalorimeters, and ongoing preparations for the implementation and production of NewAthena’s Silicon Pore Optics.

Together, these advances are helping to shape NewAthena’s future scientific capabilities and preparing its technologies for the next stages of mission development.
